Spying on Muslims
Sir, The question to be asked of the Government and the Midlands Police is would they have dared spy on Christian and Jewish communities using overt and convert cameras as they were doing in Birmingham – as reported in the June issue of the paper? The answer is no.
Why are Muslim community’s civil rights not respected? Why are we being treated like criminals?
Where are the human rights bodies? Why are they silent?
No wonder our young people have no trust and confidence in the Government and police. We are treated as second class citizens.
Those who decided to spy on Muslims should be taken to task and punished.
I must congratulate the residents of Birmingham, both Muslim and non-Muslim to have united and force the police to stop spying.
I am afraid this may be happening in other areas of the UK in areas with large Muslim population.
Yours,
Fatima Muhammed
